Content Marketing Tips for Winter

Winter is known for being cozy and busy; gloomy and cheery. What’s a content writer supposed to do with the moodiest of all seasons? Read on for some content marketing tips for winter.

As the seasons change and holidays draw near, most people find themselves rushing and bustling around to find gifts for family, friends and coworkers.  With crowded malls and long lines in stores, it makes sense that more and more people are starting to do a majority of their gift buying online.  As an online retailer, you should take advantage of this seasonal spike in sales by updating your content marketing strategy to reflect the wintery months. Here are our favorite content marketing tips for winter.

Take a Look Back Before Moving Forward

Assuming this isn’t your first holiday season as an online retailer, it would be a good idea to take a look at your analytics from last winter.  What strategies worked surprisingly well and what ones are better off forgotten?  Maybe you notice that a large portion of sales took place during the weekends; consider offering a different flash sale for every weekend in December.  Perhaps a majority of holiday sales were mobile; be sure that your website is mobile friendly and compatible.

Create a Gift Guide

Even Santa needs a little help sometimes!  Whether your customers are celebrating Christmas, Hanukah or simply the season of gifting, nearly everyone has experienced the stress of trying to find the perfect present for at least one person on their list.  Take away some of that shopping anxiety by creating your own guide with ides of who wants what with options for every price range.  Not only are you promoting your own products, you are becoming a resource for holiday shoppers and thus doing the hard work (and thinking) for them. Remember to Give Back

Most importantly, don’t allow yourself to get so caught up in numbers and strategies that you forget to share what the season is all about.  Many of today’s buyers tend to choose one product over another for reasons other than price, and a large portion of that is influenced by corporate social responsibility.  Now is a great time of the year to reflect on all that your company has done to give back through donations and volunteer work—remind your customers that you are more than just a retailer!
