Shippable Media gives ClickBank vendors the ability to sell certain types of physical goods, such as books, CDs, and DVDs. Since some customers prefer to also own an actual physical product that they can read or consume when not on their computer, shippable media products can appeal to a whole new market of customers! This article explains how vendors can start offering these physical goods to customers.

Shippable Media Guidelines

Vendors who wish to sell shippable media products must meet the following requirements:

  • You must use ClickBank’s Customer Support Ticket System to respond to tech support or refund requests
  • You must enter Shipping Notifications for all shippable media orders
  • If you have never sold a product of any kind through ClickBank before, you will be required to either ship or send a digital version to ClickBank’s Product Approval team to review before it can be approved and sold.
  • If you have sold digital products through ClickBank before, you must meet the following sales requirements or we will require that you ship your physical product to our Product Approval team for review:
    • Actively selling for at least 3 months
    • 15% or lower refund rate
    • 1% or lower chargeback rate
    • 200 or more orders

Important Notes Regarding Shippable Media Products

  • Currently, only one-time purchase products may be sold as shippable media products. Recurring billing products are not allowed.
  • Vendors are required to display shipping and refund policies on their website.
  • Affiliate commissions are only applied to the price of the product itself. Shipping and handling charges are not eligible for commission.
  • The standard ClickBank processing charge (7.5% + $1) applies to the entire value of the order, including shipping and sales tax.
  • Shippable media sales may be processed in any of ClickBank’s available currencies.
  • Customers may provide different Bill To and Ship To addresses for shippable media orders.

Creating a Shippable Media Product

The process for creating a shippable media product is similar to that of typical ClickBank products, but requires that you create Shipping Profiles. Shipping Profiles, which can include custom or pre-defined regions, tell ClickBank where you’re willing to ship products, and how much you charge to ship to different locations.

Step 1: Creating a Shipping Profile

The first step in creating your Shipping Profile is telling ClickBank where you’re willing to ship, and what you’ll charge. To make this as simple as possible, we’ve created a number of pre-defined regions, which are made up of groups of countries around the world.

You may also create custom shipping regions, which allow you to group any countries you wish. For example, if you only want to ship to the United States, the UK, Canada, and Australia, you can create a custom region with only these countries. Below are the pre-defined regions we’ve specified. For more information on the countries in each region, please see Predefined Shipping Regions below.

  • Oceania
  • East Asia
  • South East Asia
  • South Asia
  • Canada
  • Australasia
  • Mexico
  • Western Europe
  • Eastern Europe
  • Northern Europe
  • Southern Europe
  • UK and Ireland
  • United States
  • U.S. Protectorates
  • Middle East & Africa
  • Caribbean
  • South America

Step 2: Setting Up Your Shipping Profile

  1. Log in to ClickBank
  2. Click the Account Settings tab
  3. Click My Products
  4. Click the Shipping Profiles tab
  5. Click Add Profile
  6. Enter a profile name (e.g., North America)
  7. Choose a profile currency (Please note that the currency you use for your shipping charge must match the currency you use when selling the product that will be shipped)
  8. Select a region
    1. The region list contains all of the pre-defined regions
    2. To add a custom region, simply click “Want to create a custom region first?” in the Shipping Profile Help box on the right side of the page. After creating a custom region, click the Shipping Profiles tab and click Add Profile to select it.
  9. Add a shipping price for the first region
  10. To add another region to the profile, click Add
  11. Select a region
  12. Add a shipping price for the second region in the profile
  13. Continue until you’ve added all of the regions where you’re willing to ship products. Customers from countries you’ve not included won’t be allowed to purchase the product on the ClickBank order form.
  14. Click Save Changes
  15. If necessary (i.e., if you want to sell multiple physical products), you can set up another shipping profile with different regions and shipping prices

Step 3: Assigning a Shipping Profile to a Product

The final part of creating your shippable media product is to actually set up the product itself and associate the shipping profile you created to the product.

  1. Log in to ClickBank (if you aren’t already)
  2. Click the Account Settings tab
  3. Click My Products
  4. Click Add New Product
  5. Check the Shippable Media box
  6. Fill out all appropriate fields, including selecting a Shipping Profile
  7. Click Save Change

Sending Shipping Notifications

A vital part of selling shippable media is keeping your customers informed as to the status of their orders. Letting your customers know when their order has shipped is the best way to prevent unnecessary support and refund requests, and is required by ClickBank. Finally, creating a shipping notification for your order will ensure that a refund request for your product will not be processed for 7 days, compared to a single day for digital products, giving you more time to receive the product back from the customer before the refund is issued.

To create a shipping notification for a product you’ve sold and shipped, take the following steps:

  1. Log in to ClickBank (if you aren’t already)
  2. Click the Reporting tab
  3. Click Shipping
  4. By default, only unshipped transactions are displayed
  5. To change a transaction’s status so you can let customers know the order has shipped, click Generate Ship Info
  6. Enter the relevant shipping information
  7. After clicking Submit, a notification is delivered to both you and the customer, indicating that a shipment is planned for delivery. Additionally, ClickBank customer service representatives are able to see the shipping information in case they need to provide this information to customers on your behalf.
  8. To display all shippable media transactions, including orders that have shipped, change the filter options to All and click Filter

Refund Requests

Refund requests for shippable media products work much like refund requests for one-time purchase digital products, with the key difference being that once you provide the required shipping notification for the order, as detailed above, the refund will not be processed for 7 business days.

Important: Please note that this 7-day refund window ONLY applies if you have created a shipping notification for the order. If not, the refund will be processed in one business day, as it is in a typical ClickBank order.
