ClickBank Exchange 2011 Recap: A Look Into the Future of Internet Marketing
Written by: Beau Blackwell, Client Knowledge Guru
A little over a week ago, ClickBank hosted our first ever industry conference, the ClickBank Exchange, in the heart of New York City. Despite it being our first time hosting an event, it was a huge success! Our lineup of speakers delivered incredibly valuable information to attendees, and we’re already seeing sales coming from new networking connections made at the show. That’s one of the coolest things about networking in our industry—partnerships and connections made at events only take a matter of days to start generating profits.
One of the most interesting aspects of the show was how it gave a glimpse into what’s coming for the Internet marketing industry. Even though each speaker created their presentations independently, a couple of themes kept coming up repeatedly: namely, the importance of authenticity and relationship building.
If you’ve followed Gary Vaynerchuk at all, it should be no surprise that he talked about (or, more accurately, ranted about
) the importance of authenticity and relationships in his funny and thought-provoking keynote, but what surprised me is how many other speakers also talked about how our industry is naturally evolving to require and reward both of these traits. Joe Polish discussed it in his keynote, as did Yanik Silver, Ryan Lee, Jeff Siegel, and many of our other speakers who’ve built long-term, sustainable businesses online.
What was most interesting about these topics coming up from our speakers is that they happened to be areas of focus for ClickBank at the event, as well. Our corporate counsel, Michael Carrigan, covered ClickBank’s new vendor guidelines and why an essential component of being compliant with government regulations is being honest and authentic in your marketing. Our team also shared details about some of our upcoming features that enable strong relationship building, such as Joint Venture partnerships, affiliate whitelists, and more.
One of the best parts of the Exchange was that the themes of authenticity and relationships really came through in how attendees approached the event. Speakers shared some of their best content for free, and with no pitching to the audience, which led to attendees being excited and engaged more than I typically see at other events. People also spent their time actively networking (including at our crazy speed networking event, which was seriously fun and exhausting) instead of just hanging out with people they already knew. That’s one of the main benefits of attending events like the Exchange—you never know who you could meet that can totally transform your business.
All in all, the event was a great success, and we can’t wait to see all of you at the next Exchange! If you missed out this year, be sure to get your ticket early for next year’s show, as it’s definitely one you don’t want to miss! Stay tuned for details in the coming months around ClickBank Exchange 2012.

After the show ended on Wednesday, we hosted an exclusive cocktail party for some of our top vendors and affiliates, as well as a select group of other top Internet marketers and even a member of Google’s European team. Affiliate Summit East 2010 Recap
Written by: Beau Blackwell, Community Manager
We’re back from another great trip to New York City for Affiliate Summit East, and I’m happy to report that this show just keeps getting bigger and better!
We met with thousands of affiliates and vendors from all over the world, including many top ClickBank clients that made the trip from places as far away as Israel and Australia. We also met some new vendors with products that we hope will be great additions to the ClickBank Marketplace!
As always, the highlight of the Affiliate Summit shows is the opportunity for networking, and this show was no exception. Besides the thousands of people at the Meet Market and on the trade show floor, the many parties were a hotspot for meeting potential business partners. On Monday night, we hosted a private party at the beautiful Peninsula Hotel for a group of our top affiliates and vendors. It was exciting to see so many hugely successful Internet marketers in one place, sharing ideas and forming the basis for new partnerships. Thanks to everyone who came to the party!
Another aspect of the show that I enjoyed this year were the educational sessions. Unfortunately you always have to make tough decisions about which sessions to attend, but I was very glad I saw Clay Collins (an information product creation expert) and Scott Stratten of Unmarketing speak. They both brought really interesting perspectives to the Internet/affiliate marketing space, and were entertaining at the same time. Jeremy Schoemaker also held a great session on Facebook advertising, which is becoming more popular all the time, and our own Dush Ramachandran held an interesting and informative session with Frederick Vallaeys of Google’s AdWords division to discuss the “Google Slap.” There were many other interesting sessions this year—the content of the sessions keeps getting better and better with each show.
Even though it was a fast and furious few days in New York and I’m glad to finally get some sleep, it was another amazing experience, and we can’t wait to see many of you in January for Affiliate Summit West!
AffCon 2010 Wrapup
Written by: Beau Blackwell
Last week, ClickBank sponsored and exhibited at AffCon 2010, a premier affiliate marketing conference held in Denver, CO, a short distance from ClickBank’s Colorado offices.
The show was jam-packed with great opportunities for networking and learning, including many great panels and sessions run by industry veterans. ClickBank’s VP of Business Development Dush Ramachandran participated in a panel on working with affiliate networks, as well as hosting a workshop entitled “Secrets for Affiliate Marketing Success” alongside ClickBank superaffiliate and vendor Kyle Wakefield, creator of The A to Z Guide. They gave audience members some great tips on getting started and succeeding in the affiliate marketing business.
Throughout the show, we raffled off thousands of dollars worth of affiliate marketing-related products from some of our top vendors. A few of the prizes we gave away included memberships to IMeye and The A to Z Guide, copies of CPA Arbitrage, Affiliate Silver Bullet, Niche Blueprint, CB Pirate, Cash Making Power Sites, Banner Ad Blueprint, and much more.
In addition to all of the great prizes, everyone who entered our raffle got access to a free Lite version of The A to Z Guide, which includes several chapters on a variety of Internet Marketing topics. Since we know not everyone who wanted to could make it to Denver for the show, we’re giving all of our clients a chance to get the Lite version, too!
To get access, just fill out this quick form letting us know a bit about your affiliate marketing efforts, and you’ll be able to access the guide for free.

Feb. 16, 2010 — Brad Wiskirchen, CEO of Idaho’s top performing privately held tech company Keynetics and its subsidiaries Kount and ClickBank, has been selected by the Stanford Graduate School of Business to take part in an important panel discussion during the university’s annual Entrepreneur Conference.

Update from Affiliate Summit West 2010
Written by: Beau Blackwell, Community Manager
It’s the final day of Affiliate Summit West 2010, and it’s been a whirlwind event! With over 4000 people in attendance, every day has been very busy and productive. Our Meet Market table and exhibition booth have been swarmed by a mix of current and future vendors and affiliates, and we look forward to adding many new people to our network within the coming weeks.
In addition to our event sponsorship and exhibiting on the show floor, our VP of Business Development and Marketing, Dush Ramachandran, led a popular session yesterday on affiliate marketing opportunities in Europe.
One of the highlights of this Affiliate Summit were the excellent keynote speeches by Dr. Robert Cialdini and Brian Clark of Copyblogger and DIYThemes, which sells the amazing Thesis theme for WordPress. Both speeches were hugely popular, and generated a lot of great discussion and ideas for boosting online profits in powerful and sustainable ways.
Even though it’s the last official day of the show, we’ve still got a packed schedule coming up, with client meetings, parties, and more! We’ll be posting video interviews with some of our clients very soon, but in the meantime check out our pictures from Day 1, 2, and 3 of the show.
Affiliate Summit East Day 2 Wrap-Up: The Party
Posted by: Beau Blackwell, Community Manager
On Monday night, after the first full day of the show, ClickBank hosted an exclusive invite-only cocktail party at the famous 21 Club in midtown Manhattan. Some of our biggest clients attended and got a chance to meet with ClickBank staff members and network with each other. One of the highlights of the party, outside of the great venue, was the Clickbank Moneymaker, a custom cocktail co-invented by our own Dush Ramachandran and Terra Goeres. It was a delicious hit with the crowd, and we’re pretty sure that some big moneymaking deals were made over Moneymakers!
The crowd at the party included extremely successful vendors and affiliates from all over the world, including Israel, Poland, France, Switzerland, and more. One of the best parts of the event for us at ClickBank was hearing what features and services we should introduce to help make our clients even more successful. We got some great ideas for new features and shared some upcoming features we’ll be rolling out soon that were very popular with the crowd. All in all, the party was a huge success, and when it finally wrapped up, some great ideas had been shared and plans and partnerships made for the future. We look forward to our next party at Affiliate Summit West in a few months!
Below are some pictures from the event. You can see more pics from the event at our Flickr album.
Affiliate Summit East Day 2 Wrap-Up: The Show

Today we unveiled our brand-new booth, and it was a big hit on the show floor. We got a lot of great comments about the look, which stood out from the crowd quite a bit. Here are a few pictures:
The show floor was packed by mid-morning, and we met with many current and future clients. It was great to finally put a face to the names we’ve been working with for years. Many of the people we met with were very excited to see us exhibiting at the event, and to hear that our participation at these shows will just get bigger and bigger in the future! For more pictures from the day, check out our Flickr album.
After the trade show floor closed for the day, we geared up for our exclusive VIP Cocktail Party at the 21 Club later in the evening. More details and pictures from the party are coming soon!
