Feedback Needed for Upcoming ClickBank Feature

ClickBank is developing a new upsell feature that will allow certain ClickBank vendors to attempt to sell additional products to a customer after an initial purchase. After a sale occurs, vendors will be able to show a sequence of Pitch Pages for other products in their account, and if a customer opts to buy any of these products, they will not be required to reenter their payment information.

For example, when a customer completes an order, ClickBank will display the vendor’s first selected upsell Pitch Page. The customer may accept or decline the product, after which the vendor can show another offer in a sequence they’ve specified, or proceed directly to a confirmation page showing all of the items purchased and their corresponding download links. Regardless of how many upsell offers the customer purchases, they won’t be required to enter their payment information again.

To ensure this exciting new feature meets your needs, we would like your feedback for the following:

  • Are you interested in this feature?
  • Do you think you’ll use it?
  • Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for ways to improve this feature?

  • This would be an excellent add-on – but please can we get the conversion tracking setup and working well first :-)

Marketers (affiliates and vendors) need to know down to the keyword level, what is working and what is not.

    Keep up the great work,
    Paul

  • i think, when a customer buys a product he is very anxious to go and download his new product..this sales pressure will get him annoyed..i have a another suggestion..we can display a simple questions after purchase like for example ” would you like to buy other products from this vendor”..if the answer is yes, we can then display the pitch page of the first product and so on..

  • Will says:

    Yasser,

I totally disagree with you. It is all in the way you offer the additional products. You don’t just shove them in their face and hope they will buy them. You need to make them part of the overall order process – allow customers to ‘Customise’ their order and offer them additional products in this way. It might be a physical version of your product or something that complements the original product.

If you don’t believe in this process then you are leaving a tonne of money on the table. People who have just bought something from you are far more likely to buy again right then and there. Godaddy has made a killing using this one technique – so have many other well-known marketers. This is a proven technique that has worked very successfully for many.

  • CB TICKER says:

I think this feature can be added as an optional item. Make sure users will be able to choose which clickbank Pitch Page to be displayed for corresponding product. This way user can promote related products after a sale occurs and avoid displaying totally unrelated items.

  • Moe says:

This feature is an absolute necessity. I’ve been looking into other shopping cart providers precisely because I want to implement a one-click upsell.

It’s a no-brainer that CB, vendors, and affiliates will all make more money when this feature is implemented.

    Please make this available soon!

  • Am I interested…yes, yes, yes, yes!!!…would I use it…yes…yes, yes yes!!!

Add this and start allowing us to sell physical products and I would think about giving up my merchant account…

  • Ken says:

I think it’s a GREAT IDEA!! When that customer is in “Buying Mode” thats the time for the upsell or add-on!! The fact that he does not have to re-enter credit card information again cinches it. I say Roll with it, and I can’t wait fo it to happen!!

  • Richard Daniels says:

One click upsell is definitely something we would use…At the moment we do upsells, but it means that the customer has to enter their information in the order page twice!! And even with this inefficient way of doing it we still get about a 20-30% conversion on the upsell.

I know from corresponding with you that you are in Beta with this. When can people join the beta to test out this new service? I certainly volunteer my services as a beta tester.

  • Pierre says:

Yes, yes and yes! A great feature that would be extremely useful.

  • Mike Cowles says:

This is the one thing missing from Clickbank (and several other carts/merchants). Please include this feature asap! =]

  • Doug says:

That is exactly the kind of improvement I would like to see with CB – the ability to offer new and better products that may complement the product being purchased.

  • Franky says:

I think it will be cool if you only allow one upsell instead of mulitiple offers. I believe allowing multiple offers will definitely annoy a customer unless the product is “highly” related and not “Here’s the stuff I didn’t tell you pitch”.

  • I will definitely use that feature! It sounds great!
One suggestion, add a poll to the decline feature, asking customers WHY they declined, and let them click as many options as they want, such as: Too expensive, just not interested, or they think upsells are annoying. Some of us vendors really want to know WHY people don’t want the upsell offers. I’ve heard from friends who were customers when I advertise affiliate links for other vendors, and people DO get annoyed with upsell pages right after they just made a purchase, especially if the price is very much higher than the original purchase, OR if there IS something they want in the upsell offer but can’t afford it, they get very disgruntled.

  • Yeah, this is an awesome feature, many people are already using this method with loads of success. It makes it easier for the customer and vendors to buy/sell, which is what it is all about.

  • Vin runa says:

This is a great feature to be added to the CB products. Another feature to add is a network selling where vendors can sell similar products from other vendors instead of creating a upsell product.

  • Steve says:

Yes definaely use it, this would be one of the biggest positive moves clickbank could make. I would love to see this happen

  • It would be anice feature.. But would need to have integrated discount ability built in. So if they buy say “all 3 items today” save $90 or whatever..

u need to be able to have tick box sales cart. So the customer can just tick or untick the products to see how it adjusts price to them.

Also on a seperate note.. the WAIT for new product listings is a real pain. Im frustrated already at the fact i cant market anything until clickbank gives me the go ahead to sell.. PayDotCom do not have this problem and can sell instantly..

  • Definitely a positive feature. I would only ask that we be able to enable some sort of tracking so we know what’s converting and what’s not. Otherwise great great feature to include.

  • Mark says:

I think this would be absolutely fantastic. This will make everyone more sales and a more rounded solution for customers. If I buy something, the chances are if the price is right I will buy something else that intrests me at the same time. We need to capture our customers while they are in “Buy Mode” and make use of this in a positive mannor both for ourselves and our customers.
I would certainly use the feature.
I do hope there won’t be any extra cost for the service.
That would be my only concern here.

  • Miguel Verissimo says:

This is an absolute necessity, a long due one, like conversion tracking. Any marketing tool you add to the arsenal will bring more money when used correctly, so the more vendors can tweak and customize, the more their offers will convert.

  • sylvia says:

yes and yes. Sounds great so that complimentary products can be offered. Everyone can be happy.

  • Bryant Jones says:

    Yes please add this!!!

  • David Knell says:

I think it would awesome to be able to offer an affiliate product as an upsell. In other words don’t limit it to products in one’s own account.

For instance, if I successfully sell a copy of my own $10 fitness product, I’d love to be able to offer the buyer someone else’s complimentary product as an upsell, and make the affiliate commission on that as well, in addition to the $10 I made on my own product.

  • Andy Beard says:

Customize order is a vast improvement over what is suggested.

Can I also suggest a couple of other details?

    1. Coupons as an alternative to provide clean linking
    2. Slightly more complicated, allowing an upsell to be a 3rd party affiliate product with (fixed) split earnings between merchant and affiliate driving traffic. Thus you would have 3 people earning money from transaction.
    3. I have requested this before by email – a sandbox to test sales processes

  • This would be a great addition to clickbank. I faced some difficulty with some other affiliate networks and will be returning to CB for some rapid income!

I also agree with Paul Coughlin, a conversion tracking tool is a must-have feature I’ll be looking forward too.

  • YES!!! This sounds awesome! We use upsells now with clickbank and it’s a pain to have the user enter their information again to make a purchase. A one click seamless upsell would be unreal.

I’d love to beta this feature using my sites that are on clickbank.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • aaron says:

This feature is great, and I think it should be used to sell ’supplemental’ information.

For example if you sell a dog training course, you can upsell a dog health secrets ebook for 17 bucks.

It’s well known that the takeup right on good upsells is about 40%-60% and is very needed for vendors.

  • Terence says:

ClickBank will be shooting itself in the foot if it does as is intimated in the preamble to this post and only “allow certain ClickBank vendors” to use its up-sell integration.

1shopping cart already provides the hooks and there are several integrated server-side ‘up-sell’ scripts already available which you can use, if you choose.

And although, for whatever reason, ClickBank of course can refuse to provide the level of integration required, so that the whole transaction is “one click”, that still does not stop someone using just about any server-side scripting the wish.

In fact, I would argue that it is better for all – the customer, the affiliate, the product author and ClickBank that ClickBank makes it generally available, rather than forcing some to use their own scripts and presumably suffering the same or worse refund rates, or whatever other dire consequences ClickBank foresees.

My two cents. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

    Terence.
