Welcome to the ClickBank Blog!

Posted by: Kristen M., Marketing Communications Manager

As part of our ongoing efforts to expand our communication with our clients, I am proud to announce the launch of the ClickBank Blog.

It is our hope that the ClickBank Blog will provide clients with meaningful information both about ClickBank specifically and about the larger marketplace. To that end, we will be featuring posts from numerous contributors within ClickBank about various topics.

To ensure the success of our blog, it is best to outline a few important points:

  • It is our intention to blog at least twice a week.
  • We want your feedback, but we also want this to be for everyone, so comments will be reviewed prior to posting. If you’re off the topic or being obscene, your comment probably won’t make the cut. We welcome disagreement, but we insist that comments be respectful to everyone participating.
  • Requests for customer service assistance will not be addressed on this blog. Please visit: http://www.clickbank.com/customer_service.html
  • We do not allow URLs in comments in order to avoid having the blog serve as a means of advertising for any one participant. So please don’t include them. If you do, your comment either won’t be posted or the URL will be edited out. (*Added 04-03-08)

We look forward to an open exchange of viewpoints and welcome your feedback. Be sure to check back early next week for a blog from ClickBank’s own CTO, Monty Sooter. In the meantime, leave a comment and let us know what you’d like to see covered in future blog postings.

Well, Well I would say - “at last”
Thank you for opening this channel I think it is essential. the lack of such an interaction has produced some privately owned forums for Clickbank members (BTW some of them are absolutely great) and it indicates the need.

Keep on the good work, blogging is a time consuming activity but it will pay off eventually

A nice addition indeed. Communication has definitely improved over the last year and this blog is another positive step in the right direction. I just wish communication improvement extended to notifying affiliates by email when they have generated a commission (maybe make it optional in the settings). Look forward to future posts and this blog is a bookmark for sure!

    Hi Kristen,

There are two issues that I’ve repeatedly noticed get talked about on various Internet Marketing message forums that pertain to ClickBank.

The first is the perception that ClickBank does not “fight” chargebacks, and the second is that ClickBank makes it “too easy” for people to get a refund.

I’ve done my best to inject some balance into these discussions and to defend ClickBank, but the overwhelming majority of people seem to really believe that ClickBank doesn’t do enough on this front.

Addressing this as a topic on the blog might go a long way towards helping to clear things up.

    Regards,
    Ethan

    Great idea clickbank.

    You provide an awesome service.

I would like to see some overall market trends to give me an indciation of how we are performing in a particular market or category. It would also be good to know what is happening in a market on a particular day. I think that this would be a huge benefit to managing a business. Google trends does provide search information, but sales trends would be more beneficial.

    Well done ClickBank

I have been with you since 2001. One thing I have noticed, and I am not patronising you here, is that while all the other big names online make changes and seem not to care much for their customers, ClickBank has always been loyal, professional, totally up front, a real joy to work with. I applaud you on that.

I was truly excited that you guys put up the blog, but now that I am here… I feel much disappointment. In your defense, I see where this blog can help beginning affiliates and bravo for that. But for those of us who have been around the block a time or 2 had hoped this blog would come complete w/ a url reference and a “do follow” tag. This could have been very helpful to us faithful few! I only say “few” out of irony. There is bound to be a “few” thousand or more of us that could have used this little “boost” on your blog. We hope you make that change!

  56. Gary Caine said,

    April 4, 2008 @ 4:07 am

Ethan stated that Clickbank doesn’t do enough to fight charge backs and refunds.

I think that’s a customer shouldn’t have to fight to get a refund.

As an affiliate for a variety of products I see refunds every paycheck, it’s just part of doing business.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks for the great comments so far. I’m glad everyone is so excited! There are some really good ideas included on here for future posts, specifically about chargebacks, overall market trends, and payment options. I am definitely taking note!

We’ve had a few comments on us not allowing links in comments. This wasn’t an easy decision. The purpose of the ClickBank blog, however, is to disseminate information and hear back from our clients about that information. It’s not meant to be a means for clients to promote products (no matter how great those products are). So, for now I feel like we’ve made the right choice.

    Keep the ideas coming!

Thanks guys! This blog, if run properly, can be a great tool for every vendor and affiliate of ClickBank.

  65. Joseph Ratliff said,

    April 4, 2008 @ 4:08 pm

    @Kristen M,

With all due respect, allowing “do follow” and a links field in the comment input area is not going to interfere with Clickbank “disseminating” information or communicating with clients about that information.

It really is a standard for blogging nowadays.

And the link isn’t necessarily for promotion, it could be an “exchange” for taking the time to comment on the blog here and adding value to the conversation.

I am not stating that I would stop adding to the conversation here just because of the link not being available…but the blogs I tend to frequent, comment on, and participate in discussions the most have those features available.

Some blogs even include something called “Comment Luv”, which automatically links to the most recent post of the blog commentor.

And those discussions actually get very productive as well. :)

Keep in mind that most people will not post feedback of the “constructive” variety like this…so Clickbank hopefully will reconsider this “no link” and “no follow” policy and enter fully into the social marketing arena.

It will only add value to the Clickbank blog, not detract from it.

I would like to re-request a new feature for members area which I have been asking since 2006 and see others have been wanting this to.

Would it be possible to have ‘Email Alerts’ sent to us (affiliates) when a certain amount of sales have been reached.
If there was a dropdown box where we could chose 1/2/5/10/20/50/100/etc.

Another option would be to send an ‘Email Alert’ when a certain $ value had been reached.

This would help us to monitor our email campaigns, websites, promotions, etc in real time, so we know what works and what doesn’t and avoid having to log in every day with our fingers crossed hoping.

Still amazed to why there no telephone support, perhaps you can explain why, as the email support is not the best out there when it takes anything from 72 hours to a week for a reply.

seems ironic to me that we promote and sell
online but then have to stand in line at the
bank to hand in a paper cheque. Payments
from my PayPal account are transferred into
my Australian bank within 4-5 days.

    Thanks
    Gary

One more thing. There is a $10 fee per foreign cheque
that we pay here. Or if your bank is being nice to
    you, that’s $10 per foreign check-issuing bank.
Still, compare that to PayPal’s zero fees…

    Cheers,
    Gary

That’s a very good initiative from ClickBank. It would be a platform to faciliate fast communication between clickbank, its vendors and affiliates.

    Hi again,

We’re getting several comments that indicate that readers aren’t clear about the purpose of the blog. The ClickBank Blog is not a forum. What that means is that readers can’t start topics of their own and ask questions of each other. (There are lots of good forums out there that are better suited for this task.)

The blog is more of a vehicle for ClickBank to disseminate information or discuss a point of view about specific topics and get our clients feedback about those topics.

In addition, to Joseph’s comment above, we are reconsidering allowing links that are relevant to the topic at hand to be included in comments. At this point, however, we are holding firm on no extraneous links to non-relevant pages.

    Thanks!

    Hi
I hope CB also includes Pakistan because PAYPAL does not allow their service for Pakistan. Hope something can be done.
    Thanks.

I welcome this blog as a means to communicate with all ClickBank affiliates and publishers but please improve your individual support.

I don’t understand how a company that generates tens of millions of dollars in revenue doesn’t have telephone support and can take up to a week to respond to simple email questions.

Hopefully this blog is a first step in improving your overall customer support so you can move to the next level.

    ClickBank is a great website.

I only hope they can add a Food and Drink category.

    Cheers,

It’s about time you guys came out of the 20th century. :-)

    You know I love ya.

I started to think for a moment that CB was run by a bunch of robots.

    Great Job!

I like the look and feel of this blog and wish you much success.

    All the best,

I agree with everyone else, it’s great that Clickbank added this blog. Now we can all share our thoughts and experiences with each other and I’m sure Clickbank will provide some great feedback as well.

    Again, Great Job.

Great idea doing the blog. Blogging does for online affiliates what memos used to do for offline businesses.

I will bookmark and check back often as I am always looking forward to making my CB experience a successful one.

    Thank you.

CB, welcome to the new millennia of blogging, lol. Now the beginners and season professionals can come together and share thought and ideas to help make the online world more effective and safer… great choice to start a blog.
